Roof Maintenance – Water is your Enemy
I can’t stress enough that your RV roof needs to be looked at 2 to 3 times a year. This should include a cleaning and sealant inspection.
Look at all the roof vents, shower skylight, vent tubes, air conditioners, antenna, a any other seals from items that protrude from your roof.
This is a great time to talk to an RV Tech about the various cleaning methods reccommended prior to application of the sealants. In additon, the best products for the type of roof you have. Ask him about window and door seals as well as the windshield.
Perhaps once you have had your roof done professionally, you can get advise on how to do it yourself.
The consequence of not maintaining your roof properly is mold growth in your ceiling and walls, ripple and water soaked wall board, moldy rugs, ruined cabinetry, etc.
I would consider it a catastrophy to wake up in a rain forest – i.e – an RV that leaks. The goal is to have NO water come into your RV from anywhere. This will certainly extend your enjoyment and the life of the RV.
